This week, the Dedoose Tour 2013 will be in Boston, Massachusetts for the American Association for Public Opinion Research 68th Annual Conference! We are so excited to be meeting and hearing from public opinion and survey researchers from all across the globe about today’s issues in collecting and analyzing mass data.
The Hot Topic
Researchers of public opinion will be coming together at this conference to discuss the many challenges of conducting research in this day and age… an issue that all of us Dedoosers are familiar with! A huge focus of this year’s conference will be the evolution of research methods over time and how these methods must continuously be adapted in order to stay effective. This is especially relevant to us, both as researchers and as a company, because this is precisely what we’ve built Dedoose around— how do we take the vital information brought forth by hard numerical data and supplement it to tell a unique, valuable story? This is where Dedoose’s creators found themselves years ago, and this is the reason Dedoose exists! We consider our software to be at the forefront of mixed methods research, an innovative middle-ground between qualitative and quantitative research which we’ve found to be extremely effective for telling a story with your data.
We’re finding that more and more of our users, from the strictly quantitative to the completely qualitative, are adopting a mixed methods approach to their research in order to resolve the issue of having incomplete stories. Hearing what the leaders in public opinion research have to say about the current needs of researchers will be an awesome way to guide Dedoose’s future development!
